Military Campaign Writing Box
A quite exquisite Regency period rose wood and brass bound military campaign writing slope of superb quality. The exterior in well figured rose wood with elaborate brass inlay with original lock and key. The interior having a red velvet writing surface with original ink wells and various lidded compartments with ivory knobs and decorative brass inlays with candle sconce holders and ratchet reading support. To one side of the box is a lift up lid containing a ribboned letter holder, whilst to the other a storage compartment with three secret drawers which are accessed in a most unusual and ingenious way. Below is a large drawer with brass campaign carrying handles with storage space for the candle sconces with a central lidded compartment. This amazing box is in excellent original condition.
